A Bit of Knowledge
Here at Annual Underwear Affair Inc., we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all.
Underwear insecurity is a mental health condition endured by children in crisis who lack access to new underwear.
Kids living in crisis don’t have access to new underwear – they venture out with hand-me-downs or nothing at all. AUA has taken on resolving this issue and working towards a brighter future where well-being is at the forefront. Our programs and community activities are designed as a catalyst to help community members reach their goals and fulfill their potential. Our Founder, Tennille Thomas, says it best: “Just Like Undies our program does so much more than meets the eye”.
Meaningful Work. Unforgettable Experiences.
Building a legacy of GIVING!
Several years ago we met a young man who was giving teachers a hard time at school. No one could figure out why he didn’t want to participate in P.E. After a little fact finding mission he gave me the solution to his problem. He informed me that his mother could not afford to buy him the uniforms required by the school and underpants. He could not dress out for P.E. in fear of being found out.
As parents we are forced to make hard decisions. Many times as a kid I wished we just had a little help. I realized I had found a worthy mission and a way to get the kids involved with giving. Charity is our responsibility and our family made the choice to give back in a big way. We have been collecting and distributing undergarments to underserved communities for the past 4 years.
Here at AUA we have vowed to help every student we can have a happier healthier return to school with fresh clean undies. It’s hard to imagine the mental stress caused by not having things we consider a necessity's can cause. Since this day we have helped thousands of students prevent infection and disease by providing the simplest of necessities, undergarments.
Together we collect and donate undergarments to provide a week supply of undergarments to families in need without a question. Now that we have grown we will also offer a scholarship to a student in need. If you and your family or friends would like to volunteer or give to AUA please reach out using our email, phone, and or Instagram page listed below. With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. WAYS WE HELP
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge.
Mission Enhanced: Helping people live better one community at a time.
During our undergarment distributions, we have found there would be added value in community fulfillment through toiletry distribution. Hygiene is a prevalent issue in the communities we serve and we are doing our best to shift gears and add this to our current mission.
